The Aging Process

Theories and causers

Aging. The unavoidable enemy and fear of all, young or old. But what is it really like and how can we manage it. Is it even possible?

The aging represents a natural process of tiredness, accumulated in the human body tissues. Its visible aspects are on the skin and whole face – accumulation of fat, wrinkles, delayed movements.
Its invisible aspects are even more – in the consistence of blood sugar, blood pressure changes, fatty tissue metastasis, hormonal changes, Osteoporosis, changes in the cardiac muscle, muscle atrophy and others.

The Aging Process – what is it really like and how can we manage it.

Aging process should not be determined as a “cells death in the human body”, because the mechanism of killing cells itself is part of the natural cycle of the organism, but it should be defined more like delay and depletion of the regenerative capacity of the human body.
Practically, aging process is a natural process which begins with birth and maintains sustainable balance between damage and repair of the tissues till the moment the process has passed the critical point and the losses become higher than the regenerative capacity. That’s the moment aging starts giving more and more visible signs. In parallel to this, tiredness of certain type of cells – neurons and their loss become a main problem, because they are considered irrecoverable.
This leads to the act of aging. It’s physiological, psychological, mental and a social phenomenon too. There is even a special section in Science, Biogerontology, which treats aging as a disease and tries to cure it. Traditional, holistic, homeopathic and even some esoteric and untraditional forms of medicine try to give answer to this question.
Unfortunately we can’t talk for sure how to stop the aging process, which substances influence and which – not. The truth is, claiming that one substance influence may be true for some. Aging though doesn’t go by book and for different organisms is diverse, is different for men and women too. What for one worked, for another may not or even be an obstacle. However we can talk about the variety of theories aging has.

These aging process theories are surprisingly a lot. Here are the most important ones:

Cell Theory

Aging cell theory has old foundations, but recently it started to look for strong evidence. Practically it is not just one

theory but a set of a lot different theories, which look for the cause of aging of the individual cells and its “tiredness”. Aging is observed in cell cultures too, in limiting the opportunities of the cell to divide and multiply.

The DNA theory and the accumulation of disabilities

A whole range of theories(about aging process) admit the existence of “genetic aging in cells”. In practice the various races and species show a tendency to aging, which can be explained only by the DNA code. Here comes a number of new theories, such as the DNA damage theory. Based on frequently occurring mistakes in the human body’s DNA, this theory considers that changes in DNA and mutations from lesions are the cause of aging and cancer, which are considered as a “family of origin”.

Less supported concepts

Aging process has a hormonal theory, which assumes that it is reproductive hormones that foment the growth in the beginning of life. Eventually these hormones weaken and create a negative effect on the cells (Bowen, 2011). Unfortunately, this aging process theory suffers from quite a lot problematic areas, for example, is incapable of explaining the process before sexual maturity.
The answer what aging is obviously still eludes us. Perhaps it is a complex process, a chain of events that includes most of the suggested theories. The search for the answer must continue.
